Favourite Nutrition

Well I do have a lot of favourite recipes supplied by the 12wbt program like the crumbed fish and paparika wedges, chicken laksa, broccoli soup, roast beef and ricotta wraps... just to name a few, but I wanted to share some snacks, supplements and any other noms that I come across (and have been recommended by others) on my journey that I would buy again that you may like also !!

Some Of My Favourite Snacks

  • Forme yoghurt with a teaspoon or so of protein powder mixed in with about half a punnet of strawberries or blueberries.
  • 2 x Rice thins with 1 x laughing cow lite cheese triangle on each and 50cal of meat like ham or turkey with some pepper (sometimes I like a little chilli to spice it up also)
  • A whole red capsicum cut into strips with green beans and a yoghurt or boiled egg
  • Rice thins with peanut butter and a touch of honey
  • Celery or an apple with peanut butter
  • Peanut butter with spoon (hang on not that, not that !!!!! ooohhhhhh delicious peanut butter.... :) PS I rarely have peanut butter in the house anymore as I LOVE it and will generally tell myself that I can have "just one spoon full" then that's it, shark frenzy starts and the jar is half empty before I've realised.....
  • An apple, diced, microwaved and then get a tub of vanilla yoghurt and 2 pinches of cinnamon, a pinch of all spice and nutmeg, mix it in and pour over the top of the cooked apple (I also vary this one with just some honey and dried fruit over the apple, but that's more of a sweets craving, not a wholesome snack)
  • Frozen blueberries (yep, do not defrost) with some light cream (obviously more of a dessert)
  • Protein pancakes - simply make pancakes using protein powder, egg whites and water with various spices etc... I like some jam on mine
  • Curried eggs - Boil egg, scoop out yolk, mix in a little yoghurt or cream and add your spice and scoop back into egg white. This is generally made with mayo but mayo is calorie and fat dense so other options are far better
  •

These little morsels of heaven are my saviour from wanting an over abundance of chocolate. They are light, have a small amout of chocolate and have only 15cal each... I love them.... But be careful.... They can be moreish !!!  :)

International Protein, Synergy 5 - My favourite protein powder. It tastes great, mixes very well with no lumpy bits remaining, I use it to make pancakes and it still remains yum and holds together and it's designed with all different proteins that release into the body at different times so it helps you feel fuller for longer, provides muscles with a sustained release of protein and is generally a damn good product.

Magnesium can be used to relieve muscular cramps and spasms, and nervous tension, stress, mild anxiety and sleeplessness. Magnesium calms the nerves and provides temporary releif of the pain of rheumatism. I use it to help fight the muscle cramps, my calves tend to cramp in my sleep...... This tastes rather yummy too..

Mini Lo Carb Bars - Great on the run !!! 100cal per bar 9g protein... Excellent snack for making it through to the next meal

Glutamine to help muscle recovery - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutamine

Protein Chips - A nice little snack to help starve off the savoury cravings at about 120-130cal and about 12g of protein

Yummy Low Calorie (10cal) Juice with the added bonus of increasing metabolism through thermogenesis. In this brilliant juice they have packed in Cranberry, Aronia Berry, Lime and Green Tea and given the bonuses of L-Carnitine, Grean Tea Catechin, EGCG, Natural Caffiene from Green Coffee Beans, Super Citrimax (TM), Chromium Picolinate and Vitamin C (google is your friend if you are like me and had no idea what that all meant. lol...)
